Project:
To supply a clean room environment for high tech packaging equipment of dairy products.

System Used:

Walls
  • 4" EPS core panels with FRP skins.
  • Panels were full height with no horizontal seams.
  • Panels were joined using Hunter's threshold system.
  • Extruded aluminum threshold allows for a positive seal with no exposed caulking.
  • Threshold extrusions are one piece with no joints.
  • All flashings and fasteners are S.S.
  • Windows are custom designed to fit the panel system.
  • A removable 10' x 12' panel system was incorporated into the room for equipment access.
Ceiling
  • Hunter accessible ceiling system using H.D. Hunter grid was used.
  • Provides accessibility, flexibility and is extremely durable and strong.
  • Provides the strength to support HEPA filters of all sizes.
  • Accessible ceiling installed meets and exceeds American National Standard A58.1-1982 for accessible ceilings.
Lighting
Clean Room #1:
  • FG244A-T8 fixtures used.
  • Fixture has an aluminum body with 4-T8 bulbs and reflector.
  • Fixture has an anodized aluminum lens frame and is fully gasketed.
  • High intensity lighting with a CRI of 85%.
  • Ceiling height-9' and 12'.
Clean Room #2:
  • FG22MHA fixtures used.
  • Fixture is a 2 x 2 Metal Hallide fixture with a 400-watt bulb and reflector.
  • Ceiling height - 14'.
  • Fixture is gasketed and sealed.
Doors
  • Doors were all custom manufactured to customer's specifications.
  • Doors are insulated; 1 3/4" thick with FRP wear surfaces and S.S. trim.
  • Frames are S.S. or fibreglass.
  • All hardware used is S.S.
Challenges:
  • Work in confined areas.
  • Supply structurally sound removable panel with windows for equipment access.
  • Design a ceiling for lighting and HEPA filters.
  • Provide a room where the environment may be controlled.
  • After the successful installation of the first clean room, construction of the second clean room started immediately.
